(WASHINGTON, DC): As voters in 35 states head to the polls today, Stephanie L. Young, Executive Director of When We All Vote, is available to discuss voter participation in local and state elections, with a focus on Black, Brown and youth voter turnout, and ways to combat voter suppression. 

Launched by Co-Chair Michelle Obama in 2018, When We All Vote is a nonpartisan initiative on a mission to increase participation in every election, close the race and age voting gap and change the culture around voting. This year, When We All Vote has been in the fight for voting rights, mobilizing more than 15,000 volunteers and 90 businesses to take action. When We All Vote helped more than 16,000 people register or check their voter registration this cycle, volunteers have texted more than 330,000 voters and the organization has taken a leading role in educating voters and encouraging early voting through the #OctoberVoter campaign and virtual events.

During the 2020 election season, more than 512,000 people started or completed the voter registration process through When We All Vote’s portals, and When We All Vote volunteers sent more than 15.3 million text messages to 7.3 million eligible voters. More than 26,000 people were trained as Voting Squad Captains leading voter registration and turnout efforts in their communities. When We All Vote also partnered with more than 500 media, corporate and nonprofit organizations, including 52 professional sports teams and leagues. After today’s election, the organization will continue to fight for federal voting rights legislation and mobilize voters and volunteers for the 2022 midterm elections.
