FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Beth Lynk joins the national, nonpartisan initiative launched by Michelle Obama as organization seeks to register, organize and mobilize thousands of Americans this year
Washington, DC: Today, When We All Vote announced that Beth Lynk, campaign and communications strategist, will join the organization as Executive Director. When We All Vote, a national, nonpartisan voting initiative, also announced that the organization will mobilize 5 million voters to the polls this year as a part of its mission to increase participation in each and every election and close the race and age voting gaps.
“I’m so proud that When We All Vote has grown into such a powerful organization in registering, educating and mobilizing voters, and I’m thrilled to welcome Beth to the team as our new Executive Director. Our vote is our voice, and I’ll be working with the When We All Vote team to spread that message far and wide. Together, we will increase participation in each and every election, change the culture around voting, and close the race and age voting gaps that still exist all over America. Because when we all vote, we’re protecting our democracy and determining the direction of our country. It’s the most powerful way we can use our voice,” said Michelle Obama, Founder and Co-Chair of When We All Vote.
At a time when fewer young people are identifying with political parties, the work of nonpartisan organizations like When We All Vote has never been more critical. The organization will continue its work to close the race and age voting gap through a three-pronged strategy:
-
- Voter Registration: Register at least 500,000 Americans to vote — especially Black, Brown and young voters whose voices are critical to democracy — through grassroots organizing and with members of the Culture of Democracy Collective. When We All Vote will organize its network of more than 25,000 volunteers and Voting Squad Captains around key moments, including Juneteenth, National Voter Registration Day and early voting.
-
- Voter Turnout: Reach and mobilize 5 million voters to cast their ballots. As a part of this strategy, When We All Vote will host more than 500 early voting parties through the Party at the Polls program.
-
- Change the Culture Around Voting: Build a culture of voting through music, sports, entertainment and media with When We All Vote’s partners and celebrity Co-Chairs and Ambassadors. The organization will continue to bring voting to key cultural spaces, including music festivals, sporting events, college campuses and more. When We All Vote will also empower the next generation of voters to ensure their high school communities are registered and ready to vote through the My School Votes program.
“I’m honored to step in to lead When We All Vote at a time when our work has never been more urgent. I am confident that 2024 is going to be our biggest year yet as we build on When We All Vote’s strong foundation to work toward our mission to empower Black, Brown and young voters; combat voter apathy and distrust in the voting process; and change the culture around voting,” said Beth Lynk, new Executive Director of When We All Vote.
This year, When We All Vote’s network of hundreds of leading national and community organizations — including sports, corporate and entertainment partners — will join the Culture of Democracy Collective. Building on the success of the inaugural Culture of Democracy Summit in 2022, the Collective will execute a robust effort to educate, register and mobilize a more diverse and representative electorate than in any election in history.
When We All Vote’s roster of Co-Chairs includes Selena Gomez, Steph Curry, Chris Paul, H.E.R., Kerry Washington, Becky G, Janelle Monáe, Liza Koshy, Shonda Rhimes, Megan Rapinoe, Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson, Jennifer Lopez and Lin Manuel Miranda.
Most recently, Lynk was Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs in the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Lynk has served as a Senior Advisor at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, driving the campaign strategy for one of the most successful Affordable Care Act Marketplace open enrollment periods in history. She also led the Census Counts Campaign at The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, a coordinated effort that brought together businesses, foundations, cities, faith leaders and community organizations to reach communities the census has historically missed to be counted in the 2020 Census.
