Gearing up for 2022, When We All Vote will re-engage volunteers and supporters nationwide through #BackToTheBallotBox, a National Voter Registration Week of Action to get voters registered, ready to vote, and in the fight for voting rights

(WASHINGTON, DC): Ahead of the midterms and in celebration of National Voter Registration Day, When We All Vote will host the  National Voter Registration Week of Action to mobilize volunteers and current and future voters to head back to the ballot box this fall and in 2022. When We All Vote will kick things off with the,  #BacktotheBallotBox Rally on September 23rd, which will feature remarks from Co-Chairs Michelle Obama and Chris Paul, Regina Hall and more.

During the #BacktotheBallotBox Week of Action, When We All Vote will call on its volunteers, supporters and student ambassadors to host voter registration drives in their local communities, sign up to register voters in a high-traffic areas and call on the Senate to pass the Freedom to Vote Act and John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act.

Angela Yee, Brittany Packnett, local organizers and other special guests will also join When We All Vote for events and discussions during the week that will energize and mobilize current and future voters.

In 2020, 160 million Americans cast their ballots—shattering voter turnout records and making history. Now, in 2021, voter suppression tactics have advanced with more than 500 proposed voter suppression bills in states across the country. These harmful voter suppression tactics will negatively impact Americans’ freedom to vote, especially Black, Brown and young voters, and voters with disabilities. To combat these efforts, When We All Vote’s #BacktotheBallotBox Week of Action will host daily activations to deploy voters in the fight for the right to vote.

The #BacktotheBallotBox Week of Action will take place from September 25th to October 3rd. Events include:

  • Thursday, September 23rd: #BacktotheBallotBox Kickoff Rally featuring Michelle Obama, Chris Paul, Regina Hall and other special guests
  • Monday, September 27th: #BacktotheBallotBox Instagram Live Series: The State of Women’s Rights conversation featuring Executive Director Stephanie L. Young and Brittany Packnett, hosted by PopSugar
  • Wednesday, September 29th: #BacktotheBallotBox Instagram Live Series: Voter Suppression Efforts in Texas, Georgia and Beyond featuring When We All Vote Executive Director Stephanie L. Young, and local activists in Texas and Georgia
  • Thursday, September 30th: #BacktotheBallotBox Instagram Live Series: Voting Rights for the Formerly Incarcerated featuring Angela Yee, hosted by When We All Vote, 70 Million Jobs, Commissary Club, and Restore Your Vote

When We All Vote will launch the “#MyStoryMyVote” campaign to collect stories about voter suppression and fight for voting rights legislation, and share a special video from influencer La’Ron Hines. When We All Vote will also launch Code Red, a social awareness campaign led by Portal A, that taps a broad group of celebrities and influencers to mobilize their followers to register to vote on National Voter Registration Day.
