Keegan-Michael Key, Loni Love, Shonda Rhimes Headline Events in Detroit and Los Angeles
Jim Rooney, James Conner of the Pittsburgh Steelers to Join Co-Chair Tom Hanks Event
WASHINGTON, DC — Today, When We All Vote announced that Co-Chair’s Chris Paul and Tom Hanks will headline Week of Action events in Houston and Pittsburgh respectively. The Week of Action takes place September 22 – 29th.
Keegan-Michael Key and Loni Love are set to return to their hometown to headline our Detroit event. Shonda Rhimes will lead the Los Angeles rally in partnership with L.A. Promise Fund’s Girls Build Summit which will bring together 10,000 young women from across LA County.
“Voting is a small act that proves that we are a democracy— a government of the people and by the people,” said Hanks. “It’s up to each and every one of us to make sure our government doesn’t just represent a small some—not just the most powerful—but all of us. When we all vote, we are making strides toward a more perfect union.”
“Everyone’s vote matters and each vote represents a voice that needs to be heard,” said Paul. “Voting gives us the power to create real change and change doesn’t happen if we remain silent. We need your voice to be heard by voting.”
Pittsburgh Steelers running back James Conner, team executive Jim Rooney, and Kiya Tomlin, wife of head coach Mike Tomlin, will join When We All Vote Co-Chair Tom Hanks in Pittsburgh.
Last week, When We All Vote announced that Co-Chair Michelle Obama will host events in Las Vegas and Miami and Co-Chair Janelle Monae will host our Week of Action rally in Atlanta. Mrs. Obama announced When We All Vote’s National Week of Action in a video message urging Americans to sign up to volunteer and host events around the country to register voters, get people engaged and ready to vote in the midterm elections and beyond.
